
But I’m a versatile lady, so since then I’ve also worked in-house as a freelancer in advertising and marketing agencies in Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, and Leamington Spa as well as in-house for clients. I have even done translations from the German for a Swiss watch company. And I managed Twitter and Facebook feeds for a town council as they developed their Neighbourhood Plan.

After gaining five A-levels at Ripley Mill Hill School, I studied creative writing and English literature at the University of East Anglia, which largely involved me reading my way through the library and getting involved with creative writing groups. I was joint president of the creative writing society in my final year and we put together an anthology called Sesame.
My dissertation was about my ERASMUS exchange to Paris. I extended this into a novella called Exposé, which was published by the University of East Anglia in 1998 as part of their texts series.
Since then, I have done the MA in Creative Writing in UEA and I became a copywriter, and did some peripatetic saxophone teaching alongside this for good measure. Alongside my English literature and creative writing qualifications, I have the DipABRSM in saxophone performance. I was a founder member of Equinox Saxophone Ensemble and I feature on their first recording Partial Eclipse.
